PRESCOTT — Waitsburg-Prescott took a pair of Southeast 2B softball games from Tri-Cities Prep Wednesday, defeating the Jaguars 11-0 and 8-3.
“The first game was pretty dominating with the shutout,” W-P coach Angie Potts said, “but the second game was a little more nerve-racking. We had some let up and the girls kind of lost their focus. We had a girl get some bad family news mid-way through the game, and that affected everyone, but they battled through it and came out with the win.”
W-P pitcher Jennifer Nichols pitched a complete game in the six-inning opener and pitched four innings of the nightcap, giving up no runs while striking out 15 and walking one batter.
“Nichols struckout 15 and walked one, so she pitched pretty effective,” Potts said. “(She) did a really good job.”
Samantha Moss hit for the cycle between the two games and Heidi Miller had five RBI for the day.
Analise Salazar subbed in at second base and compiled three hits while manning the base well, Potts said.
“We had some kids step up and play really well,” Potts said.
W-P (8-4, 6-0 SE2B) next plays Touchet today at 4 p.m. in a single game.
