PASCO — Columbia Basin Community College brought Walla Walla Community College’s eight-game NWAACC East region winning streak to a screeching hault here Saturday in East baseball action.
The Hawks broke open a 3-3 game in the bottom of the eighth in the opener as CBC plated eight runs and took the opener 11-3.
It got no better for the Warriors on this afternoon as CBC pounded out 16 hits and completed the sweep with an 11-3 win in the second game.
Jake Campeau did his part for the Warriors in the opener. Campeau worked the first six innings, struck out ten and only gave up one earned run, and left in a 2-2 tie. Each team scored in the seventh, but CBC, which rattled off 13 hits in the game, eight after Campeau left, exploded in the eighth. The Warriors contributed to their own undoing with seven errors on the day. Ryan Neal was the offensive highlight as he collected four hits in the losing effort.
WWCC dug an early hole in the second game, as the Hawks led 7-0 after four. The Warriors managed only six hits and only got the offense going in their three-run seventh.
Tony Salas ripped his third homer of the year, a two-run shot in the seventh, and Jesse Houser’s single plated the other Warrior run, but it was not nearly enough on this day.
The Warriors drop to third in the East and stand 13-7 with Big Bend visiting Wednesday for an East doubleheader.
