Dorothy J. Osborn, 82, died peacefully on April 16, 2013, at her home in College Place, comforted by her family and knowing that she was accepted by Jesus.
Dottie, as she preferred to be called, always smiled even as she struggled with many ailments over the past few years, and even survived lung cancer. She was a Civil Service nurse and married James W. Osborn (from Ohio) on June 14, 1958, in Coeur d’ Alene.
As an Army wife, they enjoyed travel (especially Alaska) and raising their two adopted sons, David and Tom. She enjoyed golf, and was past president of the Wandermere Golfing Turtles Club. She loved watching Atlanta Braves and the Mariners. Dorothy moved from her hometown of Spokane after James died April 25, 1999.
Her father, Adolph “Ollie” Ceder; mother, Edith Shaw-Ceder; brothers, Chester, Jack, Wesley and Walter Ceder all preceded her in death. She will be greatly missed by her loving sons; David’s wife, Shirley; and special grandkids, Shelby (20), Cameron (16), and Danielle (11).
She will be inurned at Holy Cross Cemetery in Spokane, and as per her wishes, no service will be held. Donations can be made to the Blue Mountain Humane Society or Walla Walla Hospice.
