Harvest Foods adds to liquor sales capability

Walla Walla’s Harvest Foods has added a new twist to its alcohol sales.

The Southgate grocery store can now sell spirits to on-premise licensees, said owners Nolan and Kathleen Lockwood.

That means operators with a valid state business license that need an outlet for weekends or after normal delivery times from distributors can get alcohol through the grocery store, 905 S. Second Ave.

The process requires that a copy of the aforementioned license be filed prior to the sale, showing the liquor license number, plus a list of all employees who will be authorized to purchase for the establishment. Identification will be required at the time of sale.

The store has liters in several brands and is open to carrying items and sizes for weekends, events or special occasions, upon request.

The cost of purchasing through the store would only reflect the difference between off-premise and on-premise taxes until removal of the 17 percent retail fee on sales, the Lockwoods said. For more details, call 529-5000.
