BAKER — Andrew Kain earned co-medalist for the first time in his career Monday to lead the McLoughlin High School golf team to a seventh-place finish at a 13-school match at the Quail Ridge Golf Course in Baker.
Mac-Hi’s Dalton Wesner also had his best round of the season so far, carding an 84 on the par-70 course.
“I know he was really happy with it,” Mac-Hi coach Barry Wofford said of Kain’s round, “and Dalton was really happy with his score too. Once we get all our guys back we’ll really do some damage at districts.”
Homedale (Idaho) High School’s Reed Maggard tied with Kain for co-medalist and Homedale won the team scoring with a 326. Mac-Hi finished seventh in 390 strokes.
Other Mac-Hi scorers included Jeremy Ley (105) and Aaron LeFoure (122).
Mac-Hi next golfs today at 1 p.m. at a small-schools meet at Veterans Memorial Golf Course in Walla Walla.
