Dorothy Ann Payne

January 24, 1922 – July 30, 2013 College Place resident,

Dorothy Ann Payne, 91, passed away July 30, 2013, at Regency

at The Park, 420 SE Myra Road, College Place, Washington.

Dorothy was born January 24, 1922, in Great Falls, Montana, to

Martin and Maude Iverson. On July 27, 1943, she and Sherman

B. Payne were married in Great Falls. She worked as a registered

nurse in Arizona, Washington and New Mexico. She

moved to Walla Walla from Tempe, Arizona in 1980.

A member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church,

she was a spiritual and inspirational role model to

her family and friends. She was also a member of a

nursing association.

Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Valerie J.

Serns; three sons: Allan R. Payne, Darral S. Payne

and Gary L. Payne; four brothers: Kenneth Iverson,

Jim Iverson, Vernon Iverson and Floyd Iverson; ten

grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren, three

great-great-grandchildren and eighteen nieces and

nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband

and four brothers: Clyde Iverson, Carl Iverson, Paul

Iverson and Gene Iverson.

Family and friends may pay their respects from

10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Sunday, August 4, 2013, at

Mountain View-Colonial DeWitt, 1551 Dalles Military

Road, Walla Walla, Washington. The memorial service

will be 3:00 p.m., Sunday, August 4, 2013, in the

Heubach Chapel of the Walla Walla University Church,

4th and Bade Streets, College Place. Her son, Allan Payne, will officiate.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Quiet Hour

or Voice of Prophecy through the funeral home.
