Use billboard money to fix more potholes

Just curious. How many thousands of dollars were spent on the huge billboards all over town about the “pothole” repair work?

Seems to me to be a waste of money. That money could be have been used more diligently to repair that many more potholes on bad streets.

I'm pleased to know what's going on. The gowallawalla.us site has clear information about the projects and I see a good use of my dollars. Construction sites always have signs explaining the costs. Our city took the dollars they could have spent on ugly signs and made nice signs that got noticed, backed up by a website. Nicely done!

Repost...........

I thought I voted for my tax money to go towards the actual fixing the roads... Hmmm, Sounds like my tax money got used for other things... I don't remember reading the small print stating my tax money would be used for promotional billboards.... Well, it sounds like it was all legal though..... So switching my tax money to do other things is ok..... .

Sounds familiar, like another local elected board?

Communications plans are in fact part of the actual 'fixing the roads'. Do you ever journey outside of this area to see what other communities do?

Yes, a lot.... But my recollection tells me... I voted for a certain thing and now realize it was expanded to a larger scope... It might have affected the vote of the public! I voted to spend "X" amount of dollars on streets... Now we are spending "X" minus $16,000 dollars on the project we were voting on! It might have been better to tell us up-front they were planning a PR campaign... It just rubs me a little! Reminds me of WWPS and the Legal but (my opinion) wrong re-directing moneys to build a bus barn..... Sorry, I have a memory for next time around!
