WALLA WALLA — The annual Banner Bank Junior Invitational golf tournament will be played Thursday and Friday at the Walla Walla Country Club.
Play commences Thursday at 12:30 p.m., with Friday’s concluding round slated for a 7:30 a.m. start.
Junior golfers from throughout Eastern Washington 12-to-17 years of age will make up the field, which will be divided into 12-14 and 15-17 age divisions for both boys and girls.
Two defending champions have entered. They are Drew McCullough of Richland in the boys 15-17 age group and Travis Kay of Ellensburg in the boys 12-14 group.
Other top out-of-town players in the field include Ezra Arneson of Richland and Matthew Baldeck of Clarkston in the boys 15-17 division, Hailey Warren of Colbert and Kelly Hooper of Spokane in the girls 15-17 field, Nick Yamauchi of Richland in the boys 12-14 group and Cassie Kim of Yakima in the girls 12-14 division.
As many as 10 local players have entered, including Emily Baumgart, who just returned from DuPont, Wash., where she placed second in the girls 14-15 age group at the Washington Junior Golf Association state tournament.
Baumgart will compete in the girls 15-17 group this week along with local players Jessica Huntsman, Kendall Dunovant and Marissa Jimenez.
Scott Kimball, Nathan Towner, Jerod Konen, Lucas Lyons and Andrew Kimball are local players entered in the boys 15-17 division. Andrew Kimball is from Milton-Freewater.
Shea Kimball and Matthew Baumgart are local players entered in the boys 12-14 division. There are no local players entered in the girls 12-14 division.
Champions in each of the four divisions will receive crystal trophies.
The public is invited to attend.
