Jospeh G. Savage, 51, Dayton, was sentenced Aug. 2 on two counts violation of the Uniform Controlled Substance Act. The sentence included $110 in court costs, $100 in sheriff fees, $500 to the crime victims compensation fund, $775 in attorney fees, $3,000 meth lab cleanup fee, $500 drug enforcement fund, $100 crime lab and biological fees, 20 months in the custody of the Department of Corrections, credit for nine days served, 20 months community custody.  On July 29 Savage pleaded guilty to the delivery of methamphetamine within 1,000 feet of a school grounds on or about March 21 and possessed with intent to deliver methamphetamine on or about June 4.

Sandra I. Cortez, 48, Milton-Freewater, was sentenced Aug. 1 on one count forgery. The sentence included restitution of to be determined, $200 in court costs, $62 in sheriff fees, $500 to the crime victims compensation fund, $775 in attorney fees, $100 biological fee, 21 days in the county jail, credit for 21 days served.  On on Aug. 1 Cortez pleaded guilty to the charges by Alford plea to take advantage of the state’s plea bargain, in that if she went to trial the state could present enough facts to a jury that she would be found guilty.


Nigel S. Lugo, 18, 141 E. Chestnut St., was sentenced Aug. 2 on two counts second-degree child molestation. The sentence for one count included 15-36 weeks in a Department of Social and Health Care facility, 30 days in the Juvenile Justice Center suspended, 30 hours community service and sex offender treatment. The sentence for the other count was 30 days in the Juvenile Justice Center, credit for 21 days served, 12 months community supervision, 30 hours community service, $100 to crime victims compensation fund, $110 in court costs. On April 16 Lugo pleaded guilty to having sexual contact with a person who was at least 12-years-old but less than 14-years-old and he was at least 36 months older than the victim and not married to the victim.
