Colette Gillies from Cover Oregon told members of the Milton-Freewater Rotary Club that beginning on Jan. 1, 2014, Oregonians will be required to have some form of health insurance.
Residents can work through their current insurance organization or, starting in October, can go to Cover Oregon to shop for a health insurance plan on CoverOregon.com.

Nicole Karen Hudson is off to Edmonds Community College with a $500 scholarship from the Daughters of the Pioneers of Washington Chapter 12.
A 2013 spring graduate of Walla Walla High School with a 3.2 GPA, Nicole plans to earn an associate degree from ECC. She wants to earn a medical degree from the University of Washington and specialize as an obstretrician/gynecologist. A further goal is to open a private practice women’s clinic in the Seattle area.
While in the Walla Walla vicinity, Nicole has been involved in Walla Walla Valley Academy’s Acro Knights and taught junior Acros there. She volunteered for four years on a monthly basis at the Christian Aid Center, sings in F.R.O.G.S., a Christian youth choir, helped with her church’s vacation Bible school and is a member of the Walla Walla Choral Society.
She participated in FFA and was a member of its flora team. On a trip to Jamaica, she helped at an orphanage and raised funds to improve the children’s living conditions.
She is the daughter of Kimberly Watts Hempel and Gregory Hudson of Walla Walla.
