Ingrid fought a courageous battle with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis, especially over the last 5 years. She was always an independent woman, so it was hard for her to accept the willingness of family and friends to care for her. Even in illness, she continued to teach us all to fight to the bitter end, and never to give up. We are all comforted by the fact that she is free of pain and is now at peace.
She had an amazing sense of humor. Some of the things she said would make any person feel better, and yet taught us to laugh at the issues, bad or good that came up. Each of her family or friends will have a cherished, special memory to reflect upon.
Survivors include her husband of more than 54 years, Doug; five sons, Doug Jr., Larry, Les, David and Ricky; three daughters, Debra Castillo, Cindy Southard and Doris Lacher; 22 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.
We wish to thank Walla Walla Community Hospice and the doctors who were so supportive and helpful during the last few months.
