WALLA WALLA — Three Whitman College men’s tennis players have been named to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-America Team.
Colton Malesovas, Andrew La Cava and James Rivers received the prestigious honor — Rivers and La Cava for doubles and Malesovas for singles.
Malesovas — the Northwest Conference Player of the Year — received a singles berth to the NCAA National Championships and also won the USTA/ITA Fall Regional this past season. Anchoring the Missionaries lineup at the No. 1 spot, Malesovas help lead Whitman to its fifth-straight NWC title and sixth-straight trip to the NCAA tourney. He finished the season ranked 6th in the West Region and 26th in the nation.
La Cava and Rivers partnered to win the USTA/ITA Fall Regional, and advancing to the finals of the ITA National Championships. After suffering an injury, Rivers missed most of the conference season.
La Cava teamed-up with Malesovas to form a No. 1 doubles team, advancing to the NCAA Championships. They finished the season ranked fourth regionally and 10th nationally.
