WALLA WALLA — Two Whitman College women’s tennis players were tabbed All-Americans by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association on Wednesday.
Courtney Lawless, who played in the No. 1 singles spot, and her doubles partner and No. 2 singles player Alyssa Roberg joined a select group of players from across the nation.
In order to be an ITA All-American, a player must meet several criteria. Lawless met both for singles and doubles. Roberg was named for doubles. As a dominant 1-2 punch at the top of the lineup, Lawless and Roberg led the Missionaries to a Northwest Conference title, an NWC tournament victory and an automatic berth to the NCAA tourney. The duo also advanced to the ITA Nationals semifinals, losing by two points in the deciding tiebreaker.
