William E. “Perkins” Partin, Milton-Freewater, passed away Aug. 6, 2013, at the Park Manor Rehabilitation Center in Walla Walla, at the age of 83 years.
Funeral services will be Aug. 15, 2013, at 2 p.m. at the Munselle-Rhodes Funeral Home in Milton-Freewater with Pastor Owen Frost officiating. Concluding services and interment will be in the Milton-Freewater Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the VA Hospital Patient Activities Fund through the funeral home.
Mr. Partin was born Sept. 2, 1929, in Antlers, Okla., the son of William Lowell and Ruby Wellmon Partin. He attended school in Antlers. After his schooling he began working on the family farm. In 1950 he moved to Milton-Freewater and worked in the packing houses. He moved to California in 1953. He joined the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean War. After his discharge from the Army, he married June Carlton in Ceres, Calif., on Sept. 5, 1953. The couple lived in Modesto and he worked for the Modesto Junior College. Mr. Partin then retired from the college and took a part time job working at car lots in Modesto. The couple moved to Milton-Freewater in 2000 and he did some mechanic and air conditioner work in the area. He enjoyed riding motorcycles. Mr. Partin was a member of the Golden Bears of Manteca Motorcycle Club.
He is survived by his wife, June Partin at the home; two sons, Donald Partin of Garnett, Kan., and Darrell Partin of Milton-Freewater; two daughters, Raelene Kroeker and Elizabeth Erb, both of Milton-Freewater; two brothers, Jerry Edwin Partin of Milton-Freewater and Charles Partin of Modesto, Calif.; sisters, LaVern Grigsby of Ceres, Calif., Donna Key of Athena; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Partin was preceded in death by a brother, Arthur Lee Partin.
