PENDLETON — Portland musical duo Seffarine will perform at 7 p.m. on Aug. 22 at Pendleton Center for the Arts, 214 N. Main St.

Moroccan-born singer Lamiae Naki and oud player/flamenco guitarist Nat Hulskamp will present soulful vocals with oud and flamenco guitar accompaniment, inspired by music of the Mediterranean and the Middle East.

The duo’s repertoire varies from classical Arabic and Andalusian music to original compositions influenced by the music of widely varying cultures, such as Spanish flamenco, classical Persian music and American jazz.

The pear-shaped oud is considered the ancestor of the guitar. Its construction is similar to a lute and it is widely played across Northern Africa and the Middle East.

Tickets for the event are $10 and available by calling 541-278-9201 or at the door.
