CLOSURE: Approved request to close North First Street on Oct. 5 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. for Fall Fair.
SEAL COAT: Approved contract with Granite Construction Company for $75,000 to seal coat South Willow, West Spring, West Clay, South Cottonwood, and North and South Pine streets. The seal coating should take place in the next two weeks.
INSURANCE: Approved withdrawal of Dayton from the Cities Insurance Association of Washington and authorized Mayor Craig George to send notice. The city is switching insurance providers to the Association of Washington Cities Risk Management Service Agency, saving about $16,000 annually. The change will not take place until Sept. 1, 2014 because the city is required to give significant notice per their contract with CIAW.
SURPLUS: Approved list of items to be sold as surplus.
PLANNING: Approved appointment of Candy Jones and Joe Huether to Planning Commission, and Gregory Abramson to serve as commissioner.
BUDGET: Approved amendments to 2013 city budget. The amendments increased the total budget by about 4.5 percent, from $5,858,300 to $6,122,700. The changes were due to the city having a higher ending cash balance from 2012 than anticipated, and the city receiving several grants for specific projects. Council also approved a summary of the amendments for publication.
CEMETERY: Approved increase of $10,000 for transfer from current expense account to cemetery fund. The total transfer amount will be $32,500, and the increase was approved because of the cemetery’s increased costs for watering due to the dry season.
