Walla Walla resident Myrtle Marie Lancaster, 99, passed away Aug. 5, 2013, at Washington Odd Fellows Home.
Myrtle was born Sept. 5, 1913, in Benton, Ark., to William and Sally (McOllum) Chenault. She attended school through the eighth grade.
Myrtle loved being around people. Her favorite time of the year was her birthday because that is when her family would gather together. She loved to tell stories and was known for her sense of humor and wonderful smile. She was a housekeeper for private families. She moved to Walla Walla in 1991 from North Bend, Ore.
Myrtle is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Annie and “Smitty” Smith of Las Vegas; her son-in-law, Bill Collatt of Milton-Freewater; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 19 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Johnnie Collatt and Barbara Sherer; her son-in-law, Wally Sherer; her son, Charles Williams; her granddaughter, Terri Splawn; three brothers and one sister.
The memorial service will be 11 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013, at Mountain View-Colonial DeWitt, 1551 Dalles Military Road, Walla Walla. Memorial contributions may be made to the Women’s Shelter at the YWCA through the funeral home.
