WALLA WALLA — The Walla Walla School Board on Tuesday is expected to announce finalists from among three applicants to replace member Max Carrera, who resigned his position effective this month.
The announcement will be made just before adjournment of the regular board meeting that will begin at 4 p.m. at the district office, 364 S. Park St.
That meeting will be open to the public and will follow a closed session at 3 p.m. — also at the district office — at which board members are expected to screen applications.
The four current board members will interview finalists beginning at 9:30 a.m. Aug. 27 in 45-minute public sessions during a special meeting, also at the district office, then make their selection.
The new board member will be sworn into office at the regular meeting Sept. 3 at 6:30 p.m. The position will be up for election in 2015.
Also at Tuesday’s meeting, the board is expected to approve district budgets for the fiscal year beginning Sept. 1.
The year’s general fund budget will total about $65 million.
In addition, various district policies will be considered and a report will be given highlighting the Walla Walla High School Link Crew, a student group that welcomes and builds relationships with incoming freshmen.
