CRIMINAL CASES

The court dismissed the charge of failure to register as a sex offender against Evan T. McOwen, Walla Walla. Pursuant to a psychologist’s review, it was deemed in the interest of justice.

Adele A. McKinnon, 25, 3291/2 S. Third Ave., No. 7, was charged Aug. 14 with first-degree theft with the intent to resell and first-degree organized retail theft. McKinnon is accused of committing the theft of $6,121 in merchandise from The Home Depot with the intent to resell the merchandise, and wrongfully obtaining or exerting unauthorized control over the merchandise in a series of thefts between May 8 and Aug. 7.

Corrie L. Cariveau, 29, 3291/2 S. Third Ave., No. 7, was charged Aug. 15 with first-degree theft with the intent to resell and first-degree organized retail theft. Cariveau is accused of committing the theft of $6,121 in merchandise from The Home Depot with the intent to resell the merchandise, and wrongfully obtaining or exerting unauthorized control over the merchandise in a series of thefts between May 8 and Aug. 7.

JUVENILE CASES

Samantha Hernandez, 17, 1216 Olive St., was sentenced Aug. 9 on one count contempt of court. The sentence included 20 days in the Juvenile Justice Center, credit for 13 days served, six months community supervision, 20 hours community service, $100 to crime victims compensation fund, $110 in court costs. On July 26 Hernandez pleaded guilty to intentionally disobeying a lawful court order requiring a student to attend school, between Oct. 10 and May 2.

Austin M. Shirley, 14, 222 Walts Lane, was sentenced Aug. 9 on one count each third-degree malicious mischief, fourth-degree assault and third-degree theft. The sentence included 60 days in the Juvenile Justice Center, credit for 22 days served, 12 months community supervision, 30 hours community service, $100 to crime victims compensation fund, $110 in court costs, plus restitution. On July 12, Shirley pleaded guilty to assaulting another in a manner not amounting to first-, second- or third-degree on April 12; writing on a Washington Park bathroom wall causing damage less than $750 on April 11; and he took an iPad belonging to another worth less than $750 with intent to deprive the owner on May 7.

The sentence included 30 days in the Juvenile Justice Center, credit for 30 days served, 12 months community supervision, 20 hours community service, $100 to crime victims compensation fund, $110 in court costs. On July 10 Shirley pleaded guilty to intentionally disobeying a lawful court order dated Feb. 2 requiring a student to attend school, between Dec. 5 and April 3.

Isaac S. Aguilar, 14, 1809 Plaza Way, No. 11, was sentenced Aug. 9 on one count each obstructing a law enforcement officer; minor in possession or consumption of liquor; and third-degree malicious mischief. The sentence included 10 days in the Juvenile Justice Center, credit for one day served, 12 months community supervision, 20 hours community service, $100 to crime victims compensation fund, $110 in court costs, restitution to be determined. On July 26 Aguilar pleaded guilty to willfully hindering, delaying or obstructing a law enforcement officer in the discharge of his official duties on May 11; possessing liquor while under the age of 21-years on May 29; and knowingly and maliciously caused damage in an amount not exceeding $750 to the property of another by painting graffiti on a fence, on May 23.

Donald G. Russell, 52, no permanent address listed, was charged Aug. 13 with two counts of violation of the Uniform Controlled Substances Act. Russell is accused of possessing methamphetamine and using drug paraphernalia on Aug. 8.
