Elgin resident killed after log truck tips, spills load near Tollgate

TOLLGATE — One person died and two others were injured after a loaded logging truck tipped as it rounded a bend Monday on Highway 204 near Tollgate.

Oregon State Police reported that Chance E. Doubravksy, 33, was driving the truck east on Highway 204 near milepost 19 when the truck and trailer began to roll onto its side.

The logs spilled from the truck onto the highway, striking two cars and killing one person.

Killed was Luby Carol Teem, 69, of Elgin, who was driving a Mercedes.

Jan M. Patton, 56, of Pendleton, who was driving a Ford Focus, was transported to St. Anthony Hospital with minor injuries.

Doubravsky, of Goldendale, Wash., suffered a minor injury and refused treatment at the scene, according to the OSP report.

Police are still investigating the collision.
