WALLA WALLA — Kraig Scott, professor of music and former organist at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, will open the First Thursday Concert season, 12:15 p.m. Sept. 5 at St. Paul’s, 323 Catherine St.
His program, “Music to Begin,” includes organ music by J.S. Bach, Herbert Howells, and Louis Vierne plus a few surprises.
Scott has chosen the Jonna Buell Memorial Scholarship for needy students, which is managed by Walla Walla University Church, to benefit from donations given by those attending the concert.
First Thursday concerts are held 12:15-12:50 p.m. on the first Thursday of the month and feature a variety of ensembles and soloists throughout the year.
The public is invited to brown bag their lunch as they enjoy the music. Free will offerings go to the charity of the performers’ choice.
