Columbia County Commission
Commissioners are Dwight Robanske, Charles Reeves and Mike Talbott. With all present Wednesday, the board:
PUBLIC WORKS: Approved declaration of county surplus items for sale. Approved rights-of-way permits for Renewable Energy Systems on Mesner Road, Smith Hollow Road and Territorial Road. Approved right of way permit for Port of Columbia for sewer line at Blue Mountain Station. Approved pavilion fee waiver request from Thrivent of Columbia County for a free food distribution event in October, and fairgrounds lease agreement for a goat show.
HEALTH: Approved interlocal agreement with Walla Walla County for health officer services, beginning Nov. 1. Approved hiring Kathy Snyder as a full-time public health and school nurse.
EMERGENCY SERVICES: Authorized emergency director Lisa Caldwell to sign E911 contract.
SHERIFF: Approved resolution allowing Sheriff Rocky Miller to participate in the county’s alternative retirement investment fund. Because Miller was formerly a Washington State Patrol officer, his retirement from WSP made him ineligible for the county’s regular retirement investment fund.
