Robert F. “Bob” Key of Hermiston passed away Aug. 22, 2013, at his home at the age of 80 years. Funeral services will be Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2013, at 3 p.m. at the Munselle-Rhodes Funeral Home in Milton-Freewater. Memorial contributions may be made to the Orovada Community Club, P.O. Box 12, Orovada, NV 89425 or through the funeral home. Concluding services and interment will be in Orovada, Nev.
Mr. Key was born Dec. 30, 1932, in Umapine, the son of Clark G. and Bernice I. Franklin Key. He attended Umapine grade and high school. On Feb. 4, 1952, he married Rosemary Whipple. The couple moved to Orovada, Nev., in 1958 where he spent 52 years farming. The couple had three children, Drue, Mike and Kelley. Rosemary preceded him in death in 2001. He later married Karen Adams of Hermiston on Sept. 21, 2002. After retiring in 2010, the couple moved to Hermiston. Mr. Key lived each of his 80 years to the fullest. Traveling and spending time with family and friends (which were many as he never knew a stranger) was his greatest joy.
He is survived by his wife, Karen Key; two sons, Drue (Linda) Key and Mike (Julie) Key; a daughter, Kelley (Gale) Griggs; step-children, Sandy and Pam Adams, Jan Casper; four sisters, Noanie Graham, Jo Ann Olsen, Irene Padgett, June Murdock; three brothers, Jim, Don and Gene Key; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Richard Key.
