Parenting Teens Together a resource for Walla Walla-area families

The goal of Parenting Teens Together is to provide a safe place for the parents of teens to share experiences, obtain knowledge and access local resources, serving as a reminder that we are not alone on this journey. The group’s core values consist of confidentiality, respect, empathy and grace.

The group meets on the third Thursday of each month and invites guest speakers to address topics of special interest. Meetings are typically lecture-based with an emphasis on discussion, Q-and-A and open sharing. All the discussions are done in a nonjudgmental and respectful manner. The meetings are not limited to the main topic, and local resources are available for all parents who attend.

This past spring, Parenting Teens Together had meetings discussing teen depression and providing a stable home environment for teens. Both evenings featured speakers who shared valuable information and answered questions from the group.

Parenting Teens Together will meet at 7:30 p.m. on September 19 to discuss school, grades, homework and what is adequate sleep for teens. The group will meet in the library at Green Park School, 1105 E. Isaacs Ave.

Subsequent meetings are as follows:

» October 17 – Open sharing; review current resource information

» November 21 – Body image/self harming/healthful choices

» December 19 – Open sharing; review current resource information
