Watercolor classes begin in September at Walla Walla senior center

WALLA WALLA — Watercolor classes taught by Joyce Anderson will begin in September.

The beginner class requires no artistic talent. The course provides a safe environment that allows each adult watercolorist to gain success, Anderson said.

Students learn about the materials and the use of color. The first session is spent familiarizing students with the “joys” of watercolor. A supply list is provided after the first class session.

Intermediate/advanced classes are for students with some watercolor experience. Students will be introduced to portraits, florals, buildings and animals. A variety of techniques are explored to provide the luminous transparent glow that only watercolors can provide.

Day classes will be held at the Center at the Park, 720 Sprague Ave. There are no age restrictions to take a class.

Intermediate/advanced classes will be 1-4 p.m. Thursdays, Sept. 19-Nov. 7. Another series for intermediate and advanced painters will be 1-4 p.m. on Fridays, Sept. 20-Nov. 15. The cost for each series of classes is $80.

Registration for day classes is through The Center at the Park, 527-3775.

Night classes for ages 16 and up will be held at the Carnegie Art Center, 109 S. Palouse St.

The beginners class will be 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, Sept. 17-Nov. 5. Cost of the class is $81.

The intermediate/advanced class will be on Mondays 5:30-8:30 p.m. Sept. 16-Nov. 4. Cost for the class is $104.
