ENTERPRISE — The McLoughlin High School wrestling team opened its season at the eight-team Enterprise Tournament on Friday.
The Pioneers placed 12 competitors in the top four and three wrestlers took individual championships. Sophomore Jose Oliva took the crown in the 132-pound division, senior Blake Yensen won the 152 championship and sophomore Vince Roff took first in the 170 division.
Mac-Hi head coach Beau Chester said the Pioneers’ second-place finish was a great way to start the season.
“(I’m) very proud of these young men and really proud for Jose Oliva, Blake Yensen and Vince Roff for winning there first tournament of the year,” he said.
Freshman Riley Chester, sophomore Jesus Diaz and sophomore Cole Skramstad all finished second in their respective weight classes.
Freshman Kaden Kilburg, sophomore Alyx Shaw, freshman Gabe McAlester and sophomore Gregory Moreno all placed third.
The Pioneers return to action with the Muilenburg tournament on Saturday.
