City looks to web to improve communication

I am excited to announce that as part of our ongoing efforts to improve communication with our citizens and promote civic engagement, the city of Walla Walla has launched “Open City Hall” on its website.

This web portal will allow the city to obtain feedback outside of the traditional public meeting process. Citizens will be able to read what others are saying about important topics pertaining to the city of Walla Walla and post their own opinions.

City officials will review opinions posted here on the specific topics and take them into consideration in their decision-making process. City staff also plans to post the outcome of the decisions on these topics.

I hope you will visit our “Open City Hall” at wallawallawa.gov/city/opencityhall ( or bit.ly/1iQGJNq )and participate. The first topic available is the reconfiguration of Alder Street to create additional downtown parking.

Also, for those residents wishing to take a more active role in our city government, we still have a number of positions to fill on our volunteer boards, commissions and committees, specifically: Bicycle & Pedestrian Advisory Committee; LEOFF 1 Disability Board; Parks, Recreation & Urban Forestry Advisory Board, and Planning Commission. Application forms are available at wallawallawa.gov/city/boards (or bit.ly/1diF8ZY ).

We look forward to your help in achieving our vision of “City of Walla Walla — best of the best of the Northwest.”
