Lawrence “Larry” Dooley
May 3, 1936 — Dec. 9, 2013
Lawrence H. “Larry” Dooley, 77, passed away Dec. 9, 2013, at his home in College Place.
Larry was born May 3, 1936, in Pittsburgh, Penn., to John Lawrence and Ida May Sigafoos Dooley. He attended school in Pittsburgh. On Dec. 28, 1976, he and Alice Larson married in Idaho. He worked as a merchandiser for Resers Fine Foods and Darigold, continuing part time even after retirement in 1996.
His special gift was the “gift to gab!” He knew more jokes than anyone. He loved to socialize. Larry was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed camping. He had served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, the “Forgotten War.” He was very much into his grandchildren.
Larry is survived by his wife at their home; his step-daughter, Cindy Larson and step-son, Allen Larson, both of Walla Walla; and six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister.
The memorial service with military honors will be 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013, at Mountain View-Colonial DeWitt, 1551 Dalles Military Road, Walla Walla. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the Wounded Warrior Project through the funeral home.
Family and friends may write memories and sign the online guestbook at www.mountainview-colonialdewitt.com.
