OAKESDALE — The DeSales boys basketball team trounced Tekoa-Oakesdale 66-20 on Saturday.

The Irish held the Nighthawks to no points in the first period, as DeSales opened a 17-point lead. The Irish extended their lead to 34-7 before halftime.

“I thought we played with great energy and a sense of urgency,” DeSales head coach Allyn Griffin said. “We shot well and more importantly made good choices. I was very happy with our defense. They didn’t score until the second quarter. I was very pleased with our guard play and our bigs made leaps and bounds, as well. We played very unselfishly tonight — like a team. Good effort tonight by everybody.”

All nine DeSales players scored, as sophomore Cole Miedema led the Irish with 17 points.
