WALLA WALLA — Whitman College downed NAIA DI foe Eastern Oregon 78-65 Saturday night at the Kim Evanger-Raney Memorial Classic after holding a 41-25 lead at the half.

On Friday, No. 5 Whitman (8-0) defeated Corban 80-57 on the power of a 21-2 run in the second half. Heather Johns scored a game-high 23 points while making six assists and three steals in the win.

On Saturday, Missionary Sarah Anderegg led all scorers with 32 points while pulling down five rebounds and assisting on five baskets.

Eastern Oregon (10-4) heated up in the second half, shoot 52 percent from the floor as Brittney Newcomb led EOU with 23 points.

Neither team found the basket much early, however, as Anderegg made the first basket of the game, a layup, with 2:11 already elapsed in the first half.
