Walla Walla resident Wendy McCrea, 65, died Dec. 19, 2013, at the Washington Odd Fellows Home.
Wendy was born in Spokane on Aug. 6, 1948, to Richard B. and Ruth Elizabeth (Bock) McCrea. She graduated in 1965 from Ronan High School, in Ronan, Mont. Following graduation from high school, she attended the University of Montana in Missoula, Mont., and Walla Walla Community College and graduated in 1996 with an associate’s degree in accounting.
Wendy worked for the state of Montana, Boulder River School and Hospital for 20 years, then collected her retirement and moved to College Place, around 1983 to be closer to her parents. She was employed by Walla Walla Community College, and worked in the business office in workforce education.
Wendy was an expert quilter and greatly enjoyed everything to do with fine food. She loved to read and travel around Oregon, Montana and Washington, and to read newspapers especially ones from Washington, Oregon and Montana. She won several awards for her quilts at the Walla Walla County Fair and also served as a judge in the quilting competitions. Other interests included Montana history, birds and current events. She prided herself on having great friends and helping others. She greatly enjoyed attending a coffee group in Walla Walla and her quilting group.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ruth Elizabeth and Richard B. McCrea. Survivors include sister, Margaret McCrea of Rawlins, Wyo.; and brother, Richard C. McCrea of Boise, Idaho.
The memorial service will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2013, at Mountain View-Colonial DeWitt, 1551 Dalles Military Road, Walla Walla. Memorial contributions may be made to Providence St. Mary Regional Cancer Center through the funeral home.
