PASCO — Dayton bounced back from a 20-18 halftime deficit to outscore Tri-Cities Prep 35-28 in the second half.

The second-half surge propelled the Bulldogs to a 53-48 win over the Jaguars.

“We didn’t play bad in the first half, we just didn’t get the ball in hole,” Dayton coach Clayton Strong said. “They played with a sense of urgency as they had to win to force a playoff for a district spot. But we had countless opportunities, and just kept them around.”

McKayla Bickelhaupt led the Bulldogs with 19 points and 11 rebounds. Lexie Ramirez added 13 points, four assists, and eight rebounds.

The win improves the Bulldogs to 8-2 in Southeast 2B play and 15-5 overall. The win wraps the regular season and sends the Bulldogs to the District 7/9 tournament as the No. 2 SE2B seed. Dayton opens double-elimination district play in Dayton on Saturday.

“We hope to keep it (the season) going for awhile,” Strong said.
