Criminals rob us, then go on the dole

The future of America is unfolding in Umatilla County and elsewhere.

Recently a seasoned citizen was assaulted and robbed in her rural home. Unfortunately, these incidents happen.

The irony is county, state and the federal government are burdened with providing welfare and entitlements to many of the perpetrators of these crimes with the funds that could be used for law enforcement.

Again it is not a revenue problem, it is a spending problem, financing with our tax money the criminals from cradle to grave, including a stint in the big house, as well as their dependents.

Remember, if you build it they will come. Compound this with the actions of U.S. Rep. Nancy Pelosi and, close to home, state Rep. Maureen Walsh wanting to add more restrictions to gun ownership. We currently have plenty of laws and regulations that are just not enforced. It is easier to regulate John Q. Public, as they have something to lose, as opposed to the criminals. They will just get in another government program and continue on.

Insanity — doing the something over and over again expecting different results.
