MILTON-FREEWATER — Two more holes-in-one were recorded at the Milton-Freewater Municipal Golf Course last week.
On Feb. 13, Merle Sherman aced the par-3 fourth hole, which was playing up at 80 yards. Sherman used a sand wedge on the shot, which was witnessed by Duane Warner, Barry Warner and Bud Barlett.
For Sherman, who is from Milton-Freewater, it was his third hole-in-one.
Barlett is also from M-F while Duane Warner is from Weston and Barry Warner is from Pendleton.
Two days later, Johnny LeMaster posted his first hole-in-one in 10 years of golf when he knocked his tee shot into the cup on the par-3 17th hole, which was playing at 122 yards. LeMaster used a pitching wedge.
The shot was witnessed by Cherrish Bryarly. LeMaster and Bryarly are both from Walla Walla.
“That gives us three aces in the last 10 days,” M-F golf pro George Gillette noted. “For some reason, they always come in triples.”
