The owner of Walla Walla’s Harvest Foods was one of 13 new members elected to serve on the board of directors for the National Grocers Association.
Nolan Lockwood, president and chief operating officer of the Southgate grocery store, 915 S. Second Ave., was confirmed during the 2013 NGA Show at the Mirage Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas earlier this month.
In addition to the new members, six others were re-elected to serve.
The trade association represents retail and wholesale grocers that make up the independent sector of the food distribution industry. NGA members include retail and wholesale grocers, state grocers associations, manufacturers and service suppliers.
Lockwood and his wife Kathleen, have owned Walla Walla’s Harvest Foods since 2007, when they purchased it from Gregg Loney and Dan Hagedorn. His career in the business dates back to 1963 when he began at the Pendleton Albertson’s. Lockwood also serves on the board of the Washington Food Industry Association and is an active member of NGA’s Government Affairs Committee.
