Canadian trio to perform Saturday


WALLA WALLA — The Toronto-based Michael Kaeshammer Trio will perform at 8 p.m. Saturday at Gesa Power House Theatre, 111 N. Sixth Ave.

The trio is known for rhythmically infectious jazz featuring boogie-woogie, blues, jazz and pop cross-over material.

Noted for his piano virtuosity and vocal ability, Kaeshammer is Canada’s reigning Smooth Jazz Awards “Best Pianist/Keyboardist of the Year.” Sources liken him to “Harry Connick Jr. meets Billy Joel for this generation.”

He won the 2010 Canadian Smooth Jazz award for “Best Pianist / Keyboardist of the Year” and “Best Original Composition” for “Isabelle.”

His album “Lovelight” was nominated for “Best Vocal Jazz Album of the Year” at the 2010 Juno Awards, the Canadian Grammies.

Doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets are $20-$35.
