Nana Jones of Milton-Freewater passed away on Feb. 23, 2013, at her home at the age of 92 years. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2013, at 10 a.m. at the Munselle-Rhodes Funeral Home Chapel, 902 S. Main, Milton-Freewater, with Pastor Duane Geyer officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday from 1-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home. Those who wish may make memorial contributions in memory of Nana Jones to the Providence St. Mary Cancer Center (Special Needs) in care of the funeral home. Interment will follow at the Milton-Freewater Cemetery.
Nana Evelyn Jones was born on Sept. 3, 1920, the daughter of Elbert Monroe and Ethel Lena (White) Rose in Hamilton, Mont. She grew up in Oklahoma, where she married Raymond Jones on March 15, 1938. The couple later settled in Milton-Freewater. Nana enjoyed gardening and loved spending time with her children.
Survivors include her children, Harold Jones of Medford, Ore., Marvin Jones of Sierra Vista, Ariz., Vonda Cummings of Yelm, Wash., Don Jones of Walla Walla, Evelyn Kirkland of Oakdale, Calif., Lois Thomas of Sacramento, Calif., Herman Jones, Edmond Jones, Bobby Jones all of Milton-Freewater, and Lena Osuna of Modesto, Calif.; sister, Doretha Meeker of Stockton, Calif.; brother, Norbert Rose of Mantecca, Calif.; 37 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Her parents; husband, Raymond Jones; daughter, Sue Ireland; and five siblings all preceded her in death.
