Walla Walla’s Harvest Foods is offering something new for customers to sink their teeth into.
The Southgate grocery store is joining forces with the Walsh family to offer Walla Walla Sweet Onion Sausages in the frozen meat case.
Harvest Foods co-owner Nolan Lockwood said in an announcement the sausage is being made in-store. The sausages were made famous by the late Kelly Walsh, his wife, state Rep. Maureen Walsh, R-College Place, and their three children, using Walla Walla’s own signature vegetable as a key ingredient.
Lockwood said the sausage is made based on the Walsh’s specifications, and the family comes into the store after hours to add Sweets and secret spices. Store employees freeze the links, which are available for sale or shipping.
The official introduction of the partnership will take place at the store, 905 S. Second Ave., next Thursday, 11:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m.
This is one of many partnerships the store has with local growers and producers. Harvest Foods is the exclusive carrier of Walla Walla Sweet Onion Sausage.
