NACHES — Wa-Hi’s wrestling team earned first place in an eight-team field that attended the annual Naches Invitational here Saturday.
The Blue Devils also had five of their wrestlers bring home individual titles.
Weight-class winners included Joey Camacho (113 pounds), Benedicto Salcedo (120), Zane Henderson (182), Logan Reardon (220), and Quinn Piver (heavyweight).
Individual runners-up were Justin Evans (132), Groover Snell (145), Zachary Anderson (152), Gerardo Gomez (170), and Luis Contreras (220).
Blue Devils placing third were Keanu Biagi (120), Cooper Bolduc (138), Alexander Lybbert (145), Zachary Gilvey (160), and Aidan Boede (170).
Wa-Hi had three wrestlers finish fourth in their respective weight classes — Nigel Lugo (160), 182 Benjamin Thompson (182), and Donavan Romero (195).
152-pounder Andrew Granchukoff competed in three exhibition matches and prevailed in all three.
“The kids wrestled really well and hard,” Wa-Hi coach Dallas Jones said. “We’re turning a corner. We had a decent duel the other night. We’re wrestling better and competing better. We’re definitely moving in the right direction.”
Wa-Hi’s next action comes Thursday at Mid-Columbia Conference foe Chiawana.
