LA GRANDE — Defending Greater Oregon League champion La Grande raced to a 25-5 lead after one quarter here Friday night and never looked back in an 83-10 victory over Mac-Hi in the GOL girls basketball opener for both schools.
Makia Carlson led the Pioneers, now 3-7 overall, with four points. Avery Wells snared a team-high nine rebounds for Mac-Hi.
“La Grande is a good, tough team,” Mac-Hi coach Nicole Christian said. “It was a frustrating game. We had a lot of open looks, but it was one of those nights when nothing dropped.”
