JOSEPH — Pomeroy had four wrestlers place in the top six of their respective weight classes during the annual Jo-Hi/Crosgrove/Eschler Invitational tournament that began here Friday and wrapped up Saturday.
Wyatt Jenkins finished first in the 170-pound weight class while teammate Tyler King placed sixth, Ryan Smith was runner-up at 160 pounds, and Clayton King was fourth at 113.
Jenkins won all three of his matches, Smith posted a 3-1 record, Clayton King was 3-2, and Tyler King prevailed in one match and dropped three.
“Wyatt is still having an outstanding year,” Pomeroy coach Brian Slaybaugh said. “He has just one loss on the year. He’s just rolling through them. This is Ryan’s second week back. He’s been sick and unable to wrestle. It’s good to have him back. He’s looking really good. Clayton had a good day Friday. He faced tougher competition (Saturday) to wrap up, but he’s looking pretty good.”
Vale, Mac-Hi and Culver placed first, second, and third, respectively, in the 17-team field. The Pirates finished ninth.
Pomeroy’s next action is Tuesday at Wa-Hi when it opposes the Blue Devil junior varsity.
