Banged up Pioneers fall to Waitsburg-Prescott, 49-24

MILTON-FREEWATER — Waitsburg-Prescott defeated Mac-Hi 49-24 in a non-league girls basketball game Tuesday.

Chelsea Brannock and Stacia Deal led W-P with 12 and 11 points respectively.

Mackenzie Fite led the Pioneers with nine points and also led the team with four assists. Makia Carlson scored five points, all on free throws, and led the team with nine rebounds.

“We’re realy struggling right now with keeping the ball, turnovers,” Mac-Hi coach Nicole Christian said. “We’re just giving up too many opportunities to score.”

Mac-Hi has been hit by the injury bug this season, with Sabrina Glaeser, Toree Correa and Destiny Killburg out for the season. Alyssa Riedel, who had moved into a starting role, passed out Tuesday in class and did not play. Her availability is not known yet.

The Pioneers (3-8, 0-1 Greater Oregon League) visit GOL foe Ontario Saturday.
