Weston-McEwen falls to Union, 41-40

ATHENA — Weston-McEwen fell 41-40 in Blue Mountain Conference girls basketball to the Union Bobcats here Tuesday night.

The Bobcats made 1-of-2 free throws to take the lead with 11 seconds remaining in regulation.

W-M got a shot off at the buzzer, but it was tipped away from the basket.

“All of the girls contributed and, while it is a tough loss, they’ve learned how good they can and will play,” W-M coach Amber Doremus said.

The TigerScots hit just 8-of-31 3-point attempts. Marlene Bodmer had five field goals from beyond the arc and 18 points. Taryn Coffman had 11 points on three treys.

Molly von Borstel led Weston-McEwen with nine rebounds.

W-M visits Stanfield Friday at 6 p.m.
