WALLA WALLA — Gang members assaulted two men in an incident that included shots being fired near the 600 block of Chase Avenue on Friday.
Police were called to the scene at 11:54 p.m. when emergency dispatchers received 911 calls of shots fired and a fight.
According to police, the two male victims were walking home from a local establishment when two Hispanic males confronted them and asked if they were rival gang members.
After the victims said they were not gang members, the two suspects returned with 10 other suspected gang members and began following and eventually surrounding the victims, while continuing to ask about gang affiliation.
According to police, the victims were attacked and then hit and kicked while on the ground. At one point several shots were heard and the 12 suspects ran off toward Chestnut Street.
One of the victim’s injuries required transportation to a local hospital.
The names of those involved were not released by police.
