TigerScot girls down Stanfield

STANFIELD — Weston-McEwen jumped out to a 16-5 lead after one quarter here Friday in girls Big Sky basketball action.

Stanfield never dug out of the hole as the TigerScots went on to produce a 43-38 win.

W-M increased its lead to 24-12 at intermission and survived an 18-point fourth quarter by the Tigers to pull out the win.

“The girls were able to string together longer minutes of focused basketball,” W-M coach Amber Doremus said. “We limited (Brittany) Gregerson’s baskets, though we did put her to the line too many times down the stretch.”

Gregerson led Stanfield with a game-high 14 points, including an 11-12 effort from the free throw line.

Marlene Bodmer led the TigerScots with 12 and Taryn Coffman chipped in nine.

W-M travels to Enterprise Friday.
