Touchet boys can't overcome slow start

ROSALIA — The Touchet Indians were outscored 28-9 in the first half here Saturday against Rosalia in Southeast 1B boys basketball action, and fell 45-30 to Rosalia.

The Indians mounted a comeback in the third quarter, outscoring their opponents 14-8 and trimming the lead to 11 at one point in the third.

“We changed up our defense to a triangle and two at halftime,” Touchet coach Tim McKeown said. “It confused them for awhile, but we couldn’t quite come all the way back.”

Rosalia shot lights out from downtown in the game, nailing six.

Craig Nelson led the way for Rosalia with 22 points.

Touchet’s top scorer was Ruben Butler with 12.

Touchet outrebounded its opponents 26-18, and were led by Zach Carson with six.

The Indians were called for six offensive fouls, 20 in total, compared to just 10 team fouls by Rosalia.

The Indians (5-8 overall, 2-7 SE 1B) play at home Friday at 7:30 p.m. versus Garfield-Palouse.
