DAYTON — Dayton’s boys showed off an improved defense in a 39-34 overtime victory over the visiting Lewiston junior varsity squad here Tuesday night.

“Defensively, we were pretty good,” Bulldogs coach Roy Ramirez said. “We played them before and they scored 55 points on us. We didn’t play good defense. We played a lot better defense (Tuesday).”

Lewiston led 11-10 after the opening quarter, but Dayton battled back to an 18-14 halftime lead.

The teams were knotted at 34-all after regulation, and the Bulldogs held Lewiston scoreless in extra time for the victory.

Wyatt Frame scored 20 points for Dayton.

“Wyatt is our go-to guy,” Ramirez said. “We executed a lot better, and handled their press a lot better. We executed when we needed to, and at the end we did a pretty good job.”

Dayton, 3-8 overall, hosts Southeast 2B League foes Tri-Cities Prep Friday and Asotin on Saturday.
