WALLA WALLA — Walla Walla County Sheriff’s deputies gave unsuccessful chase to a yellow, low-rider Isuzu pickup early this morning after officers spotted suspicious activity near Wallula Avenue.

According to Undersheriff Edward Freyer, the suspect motorist fled when deputies attempted a traffic stop at roughly 4:40 a.m., turning south onto College Avenue.

The driver continued through College Place, turning onto Mojonnier Road. Deputies gave chase across Stateline Road into Oregon.

“It went on for an extended period of time,” Freyer said.

The roughly 20-minute chase ended on Appleton Road, near Winesap Road in Milton-Freewater when the driver of the Isuzu pickup eluded Walla Walla County Sheriff’s deputies and Milton-Freewater police after driving into an apple orchard.

According to Freyer, the Sheriff’s Office investigation is continuing.
