ATHENA — It was a tale of two halves here Saturday in Blue Mountain Conference girls basketball action.

Weston-McEwen won the first half 28-16 but Heppner came back and won the second 16 minutes, 35-18, and the Mustangs took home a 51-46 win.

“Our fourth quarter execution was the difference,” TigerScot coach Amber Doremus said. “We got caught straight legged on defense and were unable to execute on offense.”

Bailey Bennett led the Mustangs with a game-high 17 points.

Taryn Coffman scored 11 points to lead W-M. Molly von Borstel scored nine for the TigerScots but had a monster game on the glass. von Borstel pulled down a game-high 16 rebounds.

Against Elgin, Marlene Bodmer led the way with 15 points and Coffman, Madison Carlin, and von Borstel joined her in double digits as each scored 10. The TigerScots raced to a 26-7 lead after one and cruised to a 72-28 win.
