Weston-McEwen routs Heppner, Elgin

ATHENA — Weston-McEwen’s boys overwhelmed a pair of Blue Mountain Conference foes over the weekend.

The TigerScots, now 8-4 in league and 13-7 overall, humbled Heppner, 56-20, here Saturday night. Tyler Peterson led the way with 18 points, Jacob Ramirez added 13, and Nic Pease contributed 10 points, 18 rebounds, and seven blocked shots.

On Friday, W-M defeated Elgin, 70-33. Peterson had 18 points, Lance Thacker scored 14, and Zane Chapman tallied 12.

“In the last four games, our intensity has come up,” W-M coach Brian Pickard said. “We’ve turned up the defensive pressure. Steals are turning into fast-break points. We’ve played good basketball the last four or five games.”

The TigerScots play at Union on Tuesday.
